This outfit incorporates a few of my favorites for fall — layering, plaid, olive green, cuffed jeans, and wine hues too. Pretty much everything I have on is something I’ve been wearing a lot lately. The jacket and plaid top are a recent Nordstrom purchase and work so well with so much already in my closet. It’s about building a wardrobe, so be sure to be buy pieces that will only enhance and add life into your current style cycle.

{ Style Tips }

1. Plaid+ flannel are forever. They never go out of style, so buy one you love and you’ll have it for a while.

2. Do the double cuff. I first cuffed the sleeves of the coat, then did the same to the plaid shirt, resting the folds on top of the jacket.

3. Tighten the coat’s waist. This one has a drawstring on the inside. I like to make sure it’s cinched in a bit to highlight the idea of a waist through the layers of clothes.

4. Dress up a casual look with a heel. It makes all the difference. Take it a step further and cuff the jeans to really draw attention to the fancy footwear.

Dare To Wear } a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three way. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and styled three ways throughout the month. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.
