Hello, hello and happy holiday to you!! I hope you’ve been enjoying this festive season and have been taking time to celebrate and enjoy life. I’ve been busy moving (who decides to move during the holiday season?! — not one of my brightest ideas), spending time with family, and connecting with myself.

A new year on the way always gets me in a reflective/soul-searching mood, so I’ve been on the blog and social a little less and looking within more. The result, lots of exciting content ideas and inspired vibes. Yes, giving myself a mental break has me feeling revved up, refreshed, and jazzed about this blog post.

{ Style Tips }

1. Lengthen those legs by tying your button-up top with high-waisted bottoms. This instantly elongates your lower half and cinches the top in to balance out the proportions.

2. Mix casual with dressy. It creates balance. Need I say more? Wait, I will. I love fancy-looking pieces, such as the velvet handbag or chandelier earrings. I don’t want to have to wait for an occasion to wear special styles so use them to dress up casual fashions, like a flannel top. Then I get lots more enjoyment and use out of things I love. 3. Match and mix colors. The flannel has the blue shade that’s in the skirt, but that’s about it. The vest is gray. The bag (vintage, my mom’s from a high school dance) is a red velvet. The tights are a black print and the boots, they are a camel color. It may not sound like it would work to a matching machine, but it totally does. Which leads me to my next tip…

4. The only way to know is to try so try, and keep trying. That’s how outfit magic and life magic happens. I just finished reading Big Magic, so life is feeling extra magical at the moment and I plan on carrying that mojo into the new year.

5. Go big on the one piece of jewelry and keep the other bling at home. Less can be more, especially when it comes to statement styles. Wearing less jewelry can draw special attention to the piece that you are wearing.
