Time for round two of styling for a good cause. In last week’s look I kept it casual with high-waist jeans and comfy kicks, but this look took a whole different direction. I mixed a few pieces you may not normally wear together and hopefully it shows you how versatile this tank top is so that you want to BUY ONE because sales BENEFIT THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY!

Okay, sorry for the hard sell, but they are only $30, designed and made locally, and benefit a good cause. Plus they are only available a few more days so get ’em while you can.  Grab online, at one of the various local boutiques in the greater Philadelphia area, or come meet me tomorrow.

I’ll be at Andre Richard Salon this Tuesday from 12-4pm with the designer selling pieces from our collaboration charity line and I’ll also be selling pieces from my vintage jewelry collection Bling Babe and $10 of every sale goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I have been dying to get my hands on a kimono. This is my first one, have had it for about a month, and I gotta say that I LOVE it. Kimonos definitely don’t go with everything, but a leather skirt, charity tank top, and strappy shoes seem to work together quite well.

Style tips

1. Tuck it in. Kimonos feel bedroomy enough. Try tucking in your shirt in to prevent look from feeling sloppy.

2. Add height. I’m on the petite side so high shoes are kinda necessary with certain looks. I’ve worn the kimono with flat sandals before but a little height makes the proportions appear much longer.

3. Grab gladiator shoes with elastic straps. Slipping the shoe on is easy with shoe staying on securely, even with sweaty summer feet (not to be gross, but it’s something to think about it for hot days ahead).

4. Mix vibes. A graphic tank top, kimono and leather skirt may not sound like an obvious outfit choice, but it’s just a few simple pieces and works well because all the styles are different. The look doesn’t feel to club with the shoes and skirt or too casual with the tank and kimono. Think out of the box and guess and test to find styles you love together. They may just balance each other out.

DARE TO WEAR: a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three weeks in a row. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled three ways over three weeks. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.
