It’s not even Thanksgiving and we are already seeing Christmas decorations out and are finalizing our holiday shopping lists. Though I tend to wait till the last minute, this year I’m opting for gifts that give back. That means that you aren’t just buying a present for someone special, but a portion of that also goes to help others. 1. West Elm Mugs
They’ve debuted 10 new coffee cup designs this holiday season, and each benefits a different charitable organization. For every mug sold, West Elm donates 50% of the purchase price. Causes include Teach for America, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Oceana, It Gets Better,Doctors Without Borders, ASPCA, Architecture for Humanity, The Alliance for Artisan Enterprise.
2. The Giving Keys
Their site sums it up in a nutshell: The Giving Keys exists to employ those transitioning out of homelessness to make jewelry out of repurposed keys that get sold and shared around the world. Each key is unique and carries a message like HOPE, STRENGTH, DREAM or COURAGE. When the wearer of the key encounters someone else who needs the message on the key, they give it away and then send us the story of their key being paid forward.
3. Bogobrush
This stocking stuffer is a buy one, give one. These bamboo tooth brushes are the creation of a brother and sister that are children of dentists and wanted to do good. Each toothbrush purchased will also buy one for someone in need.
