Happy holidays! Start planning your party looks, as this is the season of celebratory style. As a budget-fashion blogger, I know that all it takes to create a lust-worthy look is a little planning and creativity – not dropping serious cash or even shopping!
When it came time for my most recent Dare to Wear photoshoot I was low on time to shop and style. Even though I style people all the time and am always checking out new merch, I don’t always make the time to buy for me or even style looks in advance. I know, excuses excuses. But that’s why I tend to buy pieces that are versatile. Then I can change up vibe quick and can run out of my apartment with my outfit incomplete and accessorize on the go, perhaps with vintage accessories?
Stylist Tip: Have a makeup bag with some jewelry options in your handbag. You never know when you’ll need to swap out a scarf for a statement necklace.
Sometimes my favorite outfits are created by being in a rush and throwing things together. That’s how this one happened. I got this Forever 21 maxi at the end of summer and knew it would be one of those pieces I can wear many different ways and would be a go-to style for those days I just don’t have time to think.
Vintage Accessories
For this look, the tee-shirt dress takes a chic approach and is paired with a vintage gold belt (scored for maybe $3 a few years ago). To keep cozy and add a little glam, a vintage fur shawl makes for the perfect outer layer (paid around $25 for it, thanks to haggling with a few little old ladies).
The booties are Shutz. I got them at a gifting suite last year and though they are a little pricier than the items I typically feature, they’re worth it if you’re looking for a little splurge – so comfy & they get tons of compliments!
DARE TO WEAR: a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three weeks in a row. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled three ways over three weeks. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.
So yay for this outfit or nay? Give your input in the comments below! Don’t forget to check back next week and see look #2 for this simple-chic maxi dress.
