{Five Under $50} Summer Statement Necklaces

What exactly is considered a statement necklace? The first thing that came to my mind was something of the most utterly obvious…a necklace that makes a statement. After some thought and after looking at a bunch of celeb styles, I came to understand that a statement necklace is THE center of attention / main attraction / defining piece of your outfit.

Miranda Kerr wore this trend in gold, as seen on her Instagram. Earlier this year, statement necklaces were seen all over the Oscar’s red carpet. And, the Duchess of Cambridge seems to love this style — remember this vintage Cartier Diamond necklace Kate borrowed from the queen? 

The number one rule of wearing a statement necklace — less is more. Statement necklaces are super bold, so make sure you don’t make the wrong statement by keeping your clothes simple. Too many patterns, colors, and bling can be overwhelming. I like to wear my statement necklaces with simple jewelry (tiny studded earrings, no bracelets, and a small ring) or no other jewelry at all.  Worn the right way, statement necklaces add a dash of personality to a casual everyday look or add sparkle to evening wear.
