This week’s trend is perfect for the ease of summer. It’s Birkenstocks. Not familiar? The German-based shoe company known for their flat, slip-on sandals usually with one or two buckled straps and a cork bottom that slightly conforms to your foot, was big in the late 60’s and then came back into popularity in the 90’s. Now celebs are kicking it in Birkenstock sandals, making them look too cool and chic to ignore.
Jessica Alba is a fan of the shoes. Over the weekend she shared her style on Instagram with a photo of her white Birkenstock sandals paired with a red bag and blue jeans, in theme for the 4th of July holiday.

She’s not alone. Other celebs loving Birkenstocks include Heidi Klum, Vanessa Hudgens, Naomi Watts, and Selma Blair.
Many of the Birkenstock designs are between $100 and few hundred, but they also have some more budget-friendly styles, like the Birkenstock Madrid Slide Sandal for only $29.95 at Nordstrom. This sandal is made from EVA, a waterproof hard-foam material that’s often used in athletic shoes. Translation: comfy, durable, ideal tower to the beach or pool.
I’ve just recently started digging the style of Birkenstock and now that I found a pair for under $30 it’s going to be hard for me to resist. Now the tough part, picking a color.
