This is my first outfit post of 2016. Whoa. Does it count if the pics were taken last year? Of course it does!

A flannel shirt is a serious Jessie staple. Wear open, buttoned, tied, tucked, or even around your waist if you get a little hot. I usually fall in love with one, wear it to death, then get a new one and keep the oldie as my bumming-around flannel.

Since getting this one I’ve styled it for the blog and have worn it a ton in real life, hence why I bought it. Flannel can get a little fancy if you’re creative, and I love it for casual dressing. For this look I went for a more outdoorsy vibe, with thin layers to keep me warm without looking puffy. Hope you like and that you are staying warm! Style tips + more pics await those who scroll.  😉

{ Style Tips }

1. Add warmth without bulk by wearing thin layers, like a flannel top over a tee shirt, and then topping it with a quilted vest. This vest is light and pretty much made for layering.

2. Oversized scarves = extra warmth. I hate a cold neck and a scarf really does keep in the heat. If you get hot take it off or wrap it looser.

3. Keep toes toasty with weather-proof boots. This practical tip is obvious and yet I see so many women wearing open-toe booties and super high-heeled styles, which is totally cool but not for being out and about (especially when it’s icy!) and staying warm in style. This year I made sure to get some practical boots and I must say that it’s a decision I’ve been extra happy with. Me cold = me miserable.
