It’s cold, really cold. I’ve been bundling up (we did get like 30 inches of snow in the Philly area just a couple of weeks ago) and opting to stay indoors as much as possible. This furry vestie has been a bestie to me since I first picked it up at JAX Boutique.

It was a love-at-first-sight type of thing. I picked it up, put it on, purchased, then met up with my blog photog right outside of the shop and started shooting the first look. The shoot was already scheduled, but the vest was an impromptu new addition and because it’s so cozy ( it’s Pajama Salvage so literally feels like you are wearing a fleece blanket or pjs, SO yummy!) and stylish, it’s been a go-to piece for me.

This vestie bestie, as I like to call it, has been working itself into outfit posts and to my surprise, all three looks (taken over a span of over three months) are all a little on the dressy side. So here they are. Scroll on and hopefully these looks give you some styling inspiration for your own future outfits. Links to full blog posts are below and include more pics, style tips, and links to outfit details too.

fur vest styling Fall:winter outfit idea

{ Style Tip } Layer a furry vest over a cardigan. I am all about layering (plus I’m always cold) and the sweater/vest combo keeps your core warm and arms free to move around. This is the kind of layered look that’s ideal for shopping, as I like to avoid carrying a coat while perusing potential holiday gifts.

{ Style Tip } Break up a print with a vest. This dress was that item that I got, loved, but didn’t really know when to wear. When? Now, and whenever! The vest tones down the print and makes the look feel a little less dressed up, more for everyday life, which is the vibe I’m always going for.

{ Style Tip } Match and mix colors. The flannel has the blue shade that’s in the skirt, but that’s about it. The vest is gray. The bag (vintage, my mom’s from a high school dance) is a red velvet. The tights are a black print and the boots, they are a camel color. It may not sound like it would work to a matching machine, but it totally does.  Philly fashion blogger style tips fashion expert style tips Jessie Holeva fashion blog layering style tips

Love all three looks. I bought a furry black vest myself and I followed your advice. I wear it multiple ways with dresses, skirts, and pants and enjoy it’s warmth on these cold winter days! Makes me definitely feel like I got my money’s worth. Thanks for inspiring!

Just as you guys are coming into the warmer months, we here in the Southern Hemisphere are bracing for the cold! I have to admit, vests can sometimes get me stuck. Love these ideas, and you’ll see me daring to wear them soon on my site! Cheers
