Oh look, a puppy! She calls me Aunt Jessie and she decided to step in and model. Turns out it was also recently National Dog Day (who came up with all these holidays?), so even more reason to have this adorable fur baby on the blog.
This top should look familiar, as it’s been on repeat on the blog and in my life. This is look #3 for August’s Dare To Wear series (see looks: #1, #2) and it’s one that I pretty much lived in all summer, and I mean lived in. From groceries, to the beach, to errands, to chilling, to blogging, this was pretty much what I wore … give or take a few accessories.
{ Style Tips }
1. Shorten shirt with a half tuck. The tuck can create draping, which is very figure flattering, and allows me to wear a longer shirt with shorter shorts.
2. Big brims = less wrinkles. I love the sun but value my skin, which is why I wore this hat to the beach, pool, and even just around town. There’s something glamorous about a wide-brimmed hat.
3. DIY an outfit accent. It can be a homemade bracelet, key chain for your bag, a headband or whatever. What’s unique is what makes you stand out. In this case we used hand-made tassels courtesy of my friend Kate and she tied it to a chain from a necklace. Bam, instant and unique accessory.

Special thanks to Kate Michener for assisting on this shoot and her pup Maizy for gracing us with her modeling skills. Isn’t she the cutest?!
{ Dare To Wear } a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three ways. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled throughout the month. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.
