It’s January so obviously I opted for a short skirt and high boots. The Dare To Wear blog series is all about showing three ways to wear one piece so it was time for this sweatshirt I’m so obsessed with to be paired with something a tad dressier than in week’s past.

Oh hey kitty. Recognize the cat? It’s my blog photog’s and this not-very-furry feline has made a few cameos. (see past cat cameos: Christmas, Red-Coat Style) jessie-holeva-style Budget-Fashion-Expert-Jessie-Holeva Jessie-Holeva-Fashion-Blog-2

{ Style Tips }

1. Do a little tuck to adjust the fit. The sweatshirt didn’t fit quite as tight as I would have liked so I gave it a sublet tuck in the center of the back to change the way it lays.

2. Break up black by mixing textures. There’s faux leather, quilting, knitted hosiery, and a sweatshirt getting in on the mix to keep this balck from feeling anything but boring.

3. Monochromatic outfits mean the accessory options are endless. You can keep it simple with minimal jewelry, opt for a fur scarf, or go all put and intermix style accents.

DARE TO Wear } a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three weeks in a row. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled three ways over three weeks. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.
