Alright, it’s the end of the month, aka time for Look #3 for this month’s Dare to Wear piece … a maroon dress from H&M. This time around I decided to mix sparkle with a casual, artistic vibe. Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good pale to start (sing it with me!).

Anyway, it started with the dress. What I love about dresses like this is that they can really go any way – it’s all in the styling. So I decided to take a an approach that can also go either way.

Fore you see, the tights and the dress together feel a little more dressy. Layering chambray and some vintage Coach,  takes on a more casual approach. And the scarf, well that just ties it all together.

The Coach bag cost me $14 and got me quoted in the Wall Street Journal. No, seriously! style-expert-jessie-holeva

Sometimes I can’t believe I make these ridiculous poses and post them for people to see.

Stylist Tip: Don’t take yourself too seriously. Having fun and not worrying so much makes for a happy girl (or boy) and happy people look more beautiful inside and out than those wrapped up in fear, doubt, or other people’s opinions. Style, beauty, almost everything is subjective so getting caught up in the negatives will deter you from seeing all the positives.

DARE TO WEAR: a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three weeks in a row. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled three ways over three weeks. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.
