St. Patty’s Day is this Sunday, and while you may be gearing up by stocking up on “Kiss Me I’m Irish” and green accessories, there’s one more green addition to your week that you’re missing: avocado!
While avocado goes down as one of the best foods ever (in my book at least), it can be used for more than just guacamole. Not only does avocado benefit your insides, this powerhouse of a vegetable (or fruit?) has plenty of healthy benefits when used on your face and hair as well. So we figured on a week where green rules all, why not throw some green into your beauty routine?
Let’s start with the face: with it still technically being winter, I’m sure there’s plenty of you who are suffering from dry skin, myself included. I have a quick and easy recipe for an avocado face mask which will instantly add moisture (naturally, might I add). All you need is 1 ripe, organic (no chemicals please!) avocado and 1/4 cup honey. Combine the two until you get a somewhat even creamy mixture. Apply to your face and neck, leave on for 10 minutes or so, and rinse.
Now if your hair is dry … avocados can help you with that too! Another very quick (and very festive) recipe for a super-smoothing hair mask. All you need for this is 1/2 avocado (ripe and organic), and 2 egg whites. First, beat the egg whites to a froth and combine avocado. Mix thoroughly, apply to and leave in hair for 15 minutes.
Now you’ll have smooth skin and luscious hair just in time for St. Patty’s Day! Go out there and show how good green can be! (Take it easy with that green beer though)
Any other green beauty tips you’d like to add? We’d love to hear your faves!
Erin Go Bragh, beauties!
