Oh how I love my high-waisted jeans. They have been giving me lots of love back and make crop tops way more wearable, which is great since crop tops are having a MAJOR moment right now.
To keep from feeling overexposed I layer a jean vest on top. You can still see a little skin and my frame, but in style that’s more comfortable so I can still order a latte with whip.
Denim on denim, also known as the Canadian tuxedo can be sure complimentary if done the right way. This outfit feels so 90’s I can’t even stand how much I love it, though it may not be my typical style. Scroll below for a few style tips to make an outfit like this work for you.
Style tips
1. Opt for a dark wash for a slimming effect.
2. Mix up the washes to avoid looking too matchy-matchy and overwhelming the eye.
3.Play up accessories and let the denim be a backdrop to your stylish statement pieces.
4. Style your crop top high-waist jeans to keep skin to a minimum.
5. Feel comfortable. Don’t wear a trend just because. Wear it if you like it.

DARE TO WEAR: a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three weeks in a row. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled three ways over three weeks. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.

P.S. Here’s posts of how I styled these jeans with vintage jewelry & a statement coat.
